Class Descriptions: 

Gentle Flow is great for beginners or more experienced yoga practitioners. Pairing movement with breath, we move through gentle to moderate postures focusing on safe alignment and self-awareness. This class introduces some of the principles of yoga; offers movement, breathing techniques, and ways to quiet the busy mind; and provides the opportunity to gain strength, flexibility, and balance. It is taught both on and off the mat—the instructor will use verbal cues and gentle hands on assists in addition to demonstrating postures. In each posture you will be taught the alignment needed to protect and strengthen your body as well as options to modify or intensify.

 

Evening Flow links movement to breath, flowing from posture to posture. This class is great for those who have a basic familiarity with yoga and want to deepen or sustain a more vigorous practice, but can be modified for all levels. Still focused on alignment, this practice brings you deeper into the rhythm of yoga, moving at a slightly faster pace and integrating core work. This class is taught both on and off the mat—the instructor will use verbal cues, offering options to modify or intensify postures, and gentle hands on assists to aid in alignment and deepening postures, as well as demonstrating some postures. Philosophy, breath work, and poses are integrated to provide the opportunity to increase strength and flexibility while creating physical and mental balance.

Children's/Youth Yoga classes are a fun, laid back environment for learning about the concepts of yoga, moving the body, and calming the mind. Classes include asanas (poses or postures), pranayama (breathing and energy balancing techniques), music and sound, relaxation, and FUN! Children will gain confidence, focus, and body awareness and have a great time learning to breath, flowing from posture to posture.

Tween/Teen Yoga is similar to an adult yoga class but with more focus on body awareness and acceptance versus alignment. Tween/Teen classes also integrate some partner poses and include student input on which poses they might like to work on. With upbeat music and messages, this class is great for ages 10 or 11 to 14. Self-awareness practices, breath work, poses, and relaxation are integrated to provide the opportunity to increase strength and flexibility while creating physical and mental balance including working toward more positive self talk.

Meet Meghan MacLean

Meghan received her initial training in vinyasa flow and yin restorative at Honest Yoga in Burlington, VT and her 500hr training in classical yoga and yoga therapy at YogaLife Institute of NH in Exeter, NH. She also has training in child and tween/teen yoga as well as prenatal yoga. She grew up in the Kearsarge area and moved back in 2013, when she started Crescent Moon Yoga and her work with the Outing Club.  Meghan is grateful to have the opportunity to share the benefits of yoga with her community. For more on Meghan's yoga offerings visit Crescent Moon Yoga's website.
